Dear Kartar Diamond: Is it bad to move house during your “bad” year? What about moving apartment units in the same building?
Answer: You asked about moving in a year when it is deemed a “bad” year for a person. Firstly, we have to flesh out for readers what you might mean by a “bad” year and also put it all in perspective. There are many variables to consider, so we don’t want to be superstitious by not taking enough personal information into consideration.
Some people think they will have a “bad” year if it is their Opposition Year or Chong Year. This is the year when your zodiac sign opposes the sign that is 6 years apart from your own. For example, Rat and Horse oppose each other. So do Ox and Sheep, Tiger and Monkey, Rabbit and Rooster, Dragon and Dog, Snake and Pig. In a Tiger Year, it might not be a great idea for Monkey person to move, but we can also consider the following:
- What month are they moving? Better or worse to compare it to the yearly energy?
- Are they moving into a new place with better Feng Shui than the previous location?
- What does their Nine Star Ki have to say in terms of the direction they are moving towards? For example, let us say that you are a 6 Metal person. And let’s say you want to move this year to a location that is south of where you live now. In 2022, the annual 9 fire happens to be in the south. In Five Element Theory, Fire destroys Metal. This means that for a 6 Metal person moving towards a Fire direction, it could put extra pressure on the person. This would be a compounding negative influence if it was also the person’s Chong Year.
- Perhaps there is something else about the move which will make it a better year after all for the person.
We need to have more facts and information in order to make a decision about whether or not it is a good timing to move. This can include a small move from one apartment to another in the same building.
In a Feng Shui analysis, we can always do a “Big Tai Ji” reading on the whole building and then compare which are the better areas within the building. Then, the individual unit may have its own unique orientation, distinct from the building’s sitting and facing. This is a way to micro-manage the smaller space which affects you the most. Someone could be in a “bad” part of the building, but have a good individual unit, or they may be in the best part of the building, with a “bad” unit. And of course, the ideal is to be in a good unit in a good part of the building. If you need help with moving, contact your local moving company
